Swartruggens is a small agricultural, transport and residential town in the Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality, within North West’s Bojanala Platinum District Municipality. It lies along the N4 between Rustenburg and Zeerust, with the R509 connecting it to Koster and Magaliesburg. The neighbouring township of Borolelo forms part of the broader settlement. Graves connected with the siege were later relocated to the military cemetery near Swartruggens, while a heritage plaque and interpreted battlefield preserve the story of the conflict. The town’s historic Dutch Reformed church, cemetery, railway precinct and older buildings further reflect its farming, religious and transport history.
